A New York Summer Wedding at Hotel Chelsea

New York City has a way of making a wedding feel like an entire experience, and this Hotel Chelsea wedding weekend was exactly that.

From an engagement session through the West Village to a moody welcome dinner and a fashion-forward wedding day, every part of the weekend felt intentional, artful, and unmistakably New York.

The Setting

The weekend began wandering through the West Village, photographing an engagement session among ivy-covered brownstones and cobblestone streets. It was quintessential NYC and the perfect introduction to the celebrations ahead.

The welcome dinner followed at Café à Vin, Hotel Chelsea's intimate private dining space. Rather than competing with the hotel's iconic interiors, the design layered onto them with a rich palette of merlot, mustard, and shades of pink.

Art became a subtle theme throughout the weekend—layered upon the existing art and history of the hotel.

The Day

For the wedding day, the palette softened into champagne, soft pinks, neutrals, and shades of blue. The result felt delicate and feminine while still making an impact.

Inspired by summers out East, subtle references to the sea appeared throughout the design through iridescent details and shells.

The result was a wedding that felt sophisticated without losing its sense of personality.

The Vibe

Fashion and design were at the heart of the weekend.

The historic character of Hotel Chelsea provided the perfect backdrop for something that felt more editorial than traditional, while the changing color palettes gave each part of the weekend its own identity.

It was romantic, artistic, fashion-forward, and very New York.

The Photography

I photographed the weekend using a combination of digital and film photography, leaning into both the editorial details and the candid moments happening around them.

Film added a nostalgic quality that felt especially fitting for Hotel Chelsea, while digital allowed me to embrace the architecture, fashion, and energy of the city.

The goal was never to make the weekend feel overly posed. It was to document it honestly while creating photographs that felt artful and intentional.
