Krystiana and Alex’s September wedding at Crispin Hill on Keuka Lake was the kind of wedding day that felt a little bit like stepping into another world. Set in New York’s Finger Lakes, surrounded by rolling hills, beautiful September light, and the landscape of Keuka Lake, their wedding was colorful, whimsical, spiritual, and completely personal.

Everything about the day felt like Krystiana — thoughtful, magical, a little unexpected, and full of color. From their enchanted forest-inspired ceremony to the people surrounding them, every detail felt intentional without ever feeling overly precious.

The Setting

Crispin Hill was the perfect setting for a Finger Lakes wedding. Tucked into the landscape overlooking Keuka Lake, the venue gave their day a beautiful mix of countryside, lake views, and natural scenery.

September brought that early-fall feeling to the day without losing the lushness of summer. The changing season, warm light, and surrounding landscape made the perfect backdrop for a colorful New York wedding.

The Day

Their ceremony was especially memorable. Surrounded by nature, it had all the energy of an enchanted forest wedding — and then, as if on cue, a butterfly made its way through the ceremony.

But more than the décor, the vibe came from the people. Their friends and family were incredible, bringing so much joy and energy to the day. It felt less like a perfectly orchestrated wedding and more like a really great group of people coming together to celebrate two people they absolutely adore.

And honestly, that's the good stuff.

The Photography

I photographed Krystiana and Alex's Crispin Hill wedding on both digital and film, which felt especially right for the atmosphere of their day.

Film brought an added layer of softness and nostalgia to the landscapes, details, portraits, and quiet moments, while digital allowed me to move quickly and document all of the energy happening around them.

I wanted their gallery to feel the way their wedding actually felt — colorful, emotional, a little dreamy, and full of movement.

There were the beautiful portraits, of course, but some of my favorite photographs came from the moments that couldn't have been planned: the butterfly during the ceremony, the reactions of their friends and family, and all of the little pieces of personality happening throughout the day.

That's what I love about documentary wedding photography. The goal isn't just to make beautiful photographs. It's to make photographs that feel like you.
