There are wedding venues that provide a backdrop, and then there are venues that become part of the story.

Rachel and Chris' Bohemia Manor Farm wedding in Chesapeake City, Maryland was definitely the latter.

They turned the historic estate into a full wedding weekend, staying on the property and giving themselves—and their guests—time to actually slow down and enjoy being together.

The Setting

Bohemia Manor Farm is full of character, beautiful architecture, historic details, and sprawling spaces to explore.

Rather than treating the property simply as a backdrop, Rachel and Chris let the estate become part of their story.

Having the ability to stay on the property for their wedding weekend meant there was room for slow mornings, conversations, celebrations, and all of the little moments that happen outside the official wedding timeline.

As a photographer, I had so much to work with—and so much freedom to get creative.

The Day

Rachel and Chris wanted their wedding photography to focus heavily on candid imagery.

They wanted their guests to be just as much a part of the story as they were. They didn't want to spend the day constantly posing or being pulled away from the people they came to celebrate with.

They wanted photographs that felt like I wasn't even there.

So I stayed observant and hands-off, photographing the hugs, laughter, conversations, quiet moments, and chaos as they naturally unfolded.

The Vibe

The wedding felt elevated, relaxed, and completely lived-in.

The historic character of Bohemia Manor Farm gave the day an editorial quality without requiring the design to overpower the space.

There were beautiful details, but the people remained the heart of the celebration.

And that balance made this wedding incredibly fun to photograph.

The Photography

Rachel and Chris gave me something every creative photographer dreams of:

time.

There was enough breathing room in the schedule to slow down, explore the property, experiment with light, and photograph moments as they happened rather than rushing from one scheduled event to the next.

I photographed the day using both digital and film, combining candid documentary images with more intentional editorial portraits.

The film brought a nostalgic quality to the historic setting, while digital allowed me to move quickly and capture the energy of the day.

The goal was simple: photographs that felt honest, beautiful, and alive.

The End

By the end of the weekend, Bohemia Manor Farm had become more than the place where Rachel and Chris got married.

And that is what made this celebration so special.

Rachel and Chris trusted me to photograph their wedding without constantly directing it. They gave me the freedom to explore the property, chase moments, photograph their guests, experiment with both film and digital, and make photographs that felt like them.

The result is a gallery that isn't just a record of their wedding.

It feels like a record of the entire weekend.

The architecture. The estate. The people. The laughter. The quiet moments. The chaos. The beauty.

The things they planned—and all the things they didn't.

And honestly, those are my favorite weddings to photograph.
